23 Hot Marley Twist Hairstyles to Try Right Now

Marley twists are one of the most popular protective hairstyles. This natural looking style features two strand twists and is very low maintenance – perfect get up and go style! With Marley twists you don’t have to worry what you’re going to do to your hair, and for the days when you want to change up your look, you can do so many styles within 5 minutes. It’s a low maintenance style, so you have the opportunity to actually leave your hair alone and to see it grow. If you want to find out more about this popular protective style or want to know the difference between Marley, Havana and Senegalese twists, just keep reading. We’ve got you covered.

Havana twists vs Marley twists

Havana twists are bigger and the hair is lighter. Because the hair is lighter, you can do them bigger without giving yourself or your client an eternal headache. Marley twists have less volume than the Havana twists and are done with any type of Marley or kinky hair. Also, they require more packs of hair because they are smaller in size and thickness.

Marley Twists vs Senegalese Twists

The only difference between these types of twists is the type of hair that is used.  Senegalese twists are done using smooth, Kanekalon braiding hair (the same hair that’s used for box braids) while Marley twists are done using the Marley hair extensions. The Marley hair is coarser but looks more natural. When twisted, it looks exactly like really thick natural hair. Also, the Senegalese twists are really thin and dense and have a silky texture. When twisted, they look like a rope.

How you get all the twists to be the same size?

The Marley hair comes individually, so you can count how many strands of Marley hair you want to use per twist. Use 3 or 4 strands of hair for a medium sized twists and make sure you keep the same consistent size throughout the hair for a neat and clean look. Also, make sure to brush out the ends of your Marley hair before creating the twist. The Marley hair usually comes clumped up at the ends, so that way it is easier for you to braid the hair when you get to the tip. You don’t want the ends to look thick, you want them to look natural. Your braids should start thick and fade off to nice, thin ends.
