They say that the colour plays a very important role in your wedding, and this is definitely the case when picking dresses, flowers, and the important features of your big day. Everything needs to complement each other, and that’s why shopping around for winter wedding bridesmaids dresses is important. You need to find something that works with you and your dress, but also that works with the rest of the big day. It can be difficult to put the two side by side sometimes.

If you’re on the hunt for styles of bridesmaids dresses that are elegant, modern, unique and yet still beautiful for a winter wedding, here are 17 ideas you should definitely take a peek at.

1. Gray Dresses + Gray Faux Fur Wraps

Grey is a beautiful, and often overlooked, colour when it comes to winter weddings, and you can really get experimental with the designs of dresses when you have those beautiful faux-fur throws to put on over the top. If you didn’t have those, you might need to consider more of a cover-up dress to protect your girls from the cold weather. Remember they’ll need to brave the cold as much as you.

2. All Black Bridesmaid Styles + Boots

Black is quite a controlling and powerful look, and it’s often not used for winter wedding bridesmaids dresses because of that. It’s quite a mysterious shade to go for, but an elegant one nevertheless, almost taking on a black-tie effect formal look, rather than a traditional wedding.

3. Red Dresses + Gray Knit Cover Ups

Red and grey work really well together, which might give you more options to pick from when it comes to those big cover-ups the girls will need when standing around in the cold with you. You might have wanted to go with white, or to match the shade of your dress, but if you’re struggling to make that work this grey shade works really well. Just as these beautiful bridesmaids with their bride proudly show.

4. Navy Blue Dresses + Flannel Cover Ups

Tartan or plaid is really great for winter wedding bridesmaids dresses. It just looks warm, don’t you think? Perfect for when the sun is starting to set and the chilly weather is starting to set in. The dark blue works really well with that reddish tartan too. Has this given you some bridesmaid style ideas for a winter wedding inspiration?

5. Pink & Sequin Dresses + White Fur Shawls

White fur shawls go with pretty much everything. That’s what we reckon anyway. You could have the bridesmaids at your wedding pick their own shade of pink with dresses such as these, and this is guaranteed to make everyone happy. They don’t all need to be wearing the same winter wedding bridesmaids dresses. Sometimes it’s good to break from tradition.

6. Nude Dresses + Brown Fur Shawls

Nude is such an on-trend colour for right now, so why wouldn’t you look towards the idea of nude when it comes to bridesmaid style ideas for a winter wedding. Those brown faux-fur shawls just go so well together with the nude shades too, so all round everyone is a winner.

7. Black Dresses + Greenery Winter Bouquets

Once upon a time, brides weren’t just there to plan the best bachelorette party ever, and to oversee that the groom actually turns up on time. They actually had a purpose. They were meant to ward off any evil spirits that might threaten to ruin your wedding day, or your life for that matter. We’re bet you’re glad you invited them along now, eh?

8. Navy Blue Dresses + White Fur Shawls

You know the tradition where you’re meant to throw the bouquet at your bridesmaids? Well, once upon a time you would actually throw a shoe at them, and whoever you hit would be then to get married yet. We’re sure glad they changed the old tradition to bouquet instead of shoe. We’d rather not get a black eye!

9. Plaid Blanket Scarves

We’re back to plaid again, and this just goes to show how versatile the look really is. We’ve seen it with the blue winter wedding bridesmaids dresses, and now you can see it with red ones. It works just as brilliantly! The one thing you will want to ensure is that everyone is warm on the big day. You definitely don’t want people grumbling to you on what’s meant to be the most important day of your life!

10. Black and Red Winter Bridesmaids

Black is quite a mysterious colour, and red has some background when it comes to wedding day colours also. It’s a very stimulating and warm colour, and one that definitely brings about high energy. It also works as the perfect contrast against the black you wanted also. What do you think? Would you?

We love the storage designs in this amazing nursery, and one thing you’ll definitely need when you have kids is plenty of storage. Having boxes in shelving units up the wall like that eliminates the need for furniture pieces such as cupboards, chest of drawers, etc.

5. Grey, Pink & White

What a beautiful design for a nursery or playroom! Grey and pink are two shades that go very well together, and this adorable room shows you just that. You can have different shades of pink if that pastel hue isn’t quite to your taste, and you could even switch the pink up for a different colour entirely. Yellow, for example, to make it gender-neutral.

Twins? Congratulations! That sure sounds like a lot of work, but a boy and a girl at the same time does sound like a true dream. There are hundreds of tutorials on places such as Pinterest, and we’ve often thought about giving it a shot for ourselves. 14. Pink, White & Grey

This is another fresh, clean and modern way to do up the kids room, and you could even make those beautiful art prints on the wall. In fact, we think you should definitely do this. If you have found a beautiful wallpaper you like, for example, but you don’t want it all over the walls, or it’s too expensive for you to do the entire room, you could easily cover smaller canvasses and use those as art instead. Or remove the pictures from frames and have small bursts of your wallpaper colour.

15. Girly Playroom

You should think about having a close-to-the-floor bed when you’re looking at super cute nursery and playroom ideas. It’s not their regular bed for a start, and for those times when you leave your child unattended to make a drink or use the look, you’ll feel at ease knowing they can’t roll off something that’s a little way off the ground. Making the bed look fun, just like you can see here, is a great way to encourage kids to get into it more. Don’t you take the same approach be dressing up dinner?

16. Modern Safari Playroom Idea

Every kid wants to go on a safari adventure, or at least we did when we were younger. That’s why we loved this safari themed room, perfect for super cute nursery and playroom ideas. The knitted textures are awesome in this one, and we can’t help to think that the perfect touch would be to have Grandma (or someone who can knit) make those beautiful throws, cushions, stuffed animals, and bean bag. Don’t you think that’s a totally great idea?

17. Colorful Floral Wall

Floral patterns are pretty and they spice the place up, and we love the way that these beautiful florals have been hand-painted on the wall. There are so many ways you could customise them, and we definitely think it’s about time you tried.

Let’s face it, when you’re getting married you want your wedding to be bigger and better than any wedding that anyone has ever seen before. You want a dress that only you will wear, with shoes that only you will wear, and with unique ideas that really makes your big day stand out. What’s the point in being the centre of attention if you’re only going to fake into the background?

If you’re looking for unique ideas for a winter wedding, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve found some absolutely amazing ideas for your big day, and we cannot wait to share them with you.

1. Cozy Couple Photo

Winter weddings just scream that cozy and warm atmosphere, so we feel that the cozy couple photo is a must-have. If your wedding photographer hasn’t already bounced this idea your way, it might be wise to bring it to his or her attention.

It doesn’t take much – a cozy blanket, a nice cup of tea … everything you’d want for a nice and warm wedding day. We can’t think of anything we’d like more after a busy day of celebrating our love than a nice cup of hot, steaming tea!

2. Hot Chocolate Bar

While we’re on the subjects of hot drinks, if you’re planning a winter wedding you need to come up with a way to keep your guests warm. This is even more so the case when you’ve opted for a snowy and super-cold backdrop.

A hot chocolate bar is a great idea, not only because your guests can have their drinks exactly the way they want it, but also to keep them warm. Plus, who doesn’t really appreciate a wonderful cup of cocoa at the end of a long day? Unique ideas for a winter wedding done the right way, if you ask us.

3. Winter Berries Bouquet

Winter might seem drab and dreary, but sometimes there are some beautiful colours that pop out of nowhere. We love the way that the bright red pop of winter berries has been used in a rustic wedding bouquet. It brings a flash of colour into an otherwise quite subtle backdrop.

There are a few different types of winter berries you could pick for a wedding bouquet like this one. It all depends on the colours you want to go, and the style of wedding you’ve chosen. Hypericum berries are the most commonly used, and these can be in red, green, and various shades in between.

4. Pinecone Cake Toppers

For when you want a rustic winter wedding, and you’re not that bothered about the bride and groom at the top of the cake, how about having pinecones instead? It’s a very simple idea, and you could still decorate the pinecones in the bride and groom style, just like you can see here.

It’s also a lot cheaper than having bride and groom wedding toppers – no one would ever need to know that you were planning your winter wedding on a budget either! No one else would have done it, and thats what makes it one of the best unique ideas for a winter wedding.

5. Faux Fur Coats

Fur coats just scream luxury, although we’re talking about faux-fur, of course. We’re not really in the market for a dead animal carcass wrapped around our beautiful dresses for a wedding day.

The faux-fur coat idea is actually a really good one to opt for if you’re on the hunt for unique ideas for a winter wedding. Because they’re so on-trend for right now, you’ll have an easy time finding some that match your dresses perfectly. You’ll also be more likely find them in the exact colours and styles to match your wedding theme. Long, short, big and fluffy, or short and sweet – there are plenty of styles and designs to play around with. We bet your wedding guests will love the luxurious blanket you’ve essentially just told them to wear!

6. Festive Chair Covers

These are easily handmade using old Christmas wreathes. With the help of some ribbon, some silver glitter spray paint, and a ‘Mr’ and ‘Mrs’ cut-out sign (or whatever names you want to have on them), you could recreate these in no time at all. The actual names / words themselves aren’t all that difficult to make if your other half or dad has the right power tools hanging around in the shed.

These chair covers are such a fabulous idea, and just perfect for a wedding day around Christmas. You could have these on just the bridge and grooms chairs, or on all the chairs at the ‘top table’. As well as the Mr. and Mrs. that you can see here, you could have the other titles of the people sat in that chair.

7. Mistletoe Boutonniere

You can’t forget about the boutonniere on the big day! What better way to show off your festive side than with these beautiful mistletoe ones?

As far as unique ideas for a winter wedding go, these ones are definitely one of the smallest touches, but also ones that could make the biggest impact too. Imagine all the kisses under the mistletoe that could be happening because of you tonight!

8. Cool & Warm Bride

As much as you want to look beautiful on your big day, you must make sure that you’re warm enough. If you don’t, all of your wedding photos are going to be of you trying to smile through gritted teeth, and before long your hands, feet, and other limbs will start to go blue. Looking good is important, but so is staying warm! Remember that with your unique ideas for a winter wedding.

If you can get away with having big boots and festive socks under your dress, do it. If you want to have a blanket wrapped around you for when you’re not in the pictures of trying to look beautiful in front of guests, do it. It’s YOUR big day. You want to look good, but you’ll also want to be comfortable. You don’t want to be the bride that says to all her friends in ten years time, “Oh yeah, my wedding day was lovely but we didn’t really enjoy it because everyone was frozen solid!”

9. Chunky Wool Blanket

While we’re on the subject of staying warm, we definitely think these big and chunky woolen blankets are the way forward, and if you know someone who can crochet or knit, or who knows how to make these, you could also save a few bucks too. And get exactly the right shade to match your colour scheme!

It’s all adding up, right? We know, these blankets look lovely and warm. Why wouldn’t you want to include some in your unique ideas for a winter wedding? We can’t think of a single reason.

10. Perfect Bridal Updo for a Winter Wedding

You can’t forget about your hair when you’re talking about unique ideas for a winter wedding either, and we’re a little in love with this perfect bridal updo. Some winter flowers have been added for good measure, and it all together looks so beautiful, simple and elegant.

When you have such impressive detailing happening all around you on your big day, sometimes keeping things simple, just like your hair, is the way forward. Contrasts cane make such a massive impact.

11. Blankets for Guests

You definitely can’t forget about the plummeting temperatures when you’re planning a wedding during the cold season. How’s this for unique ideas for a winter wedding that’ll keep your guests warm and happy?

Have a couple of baskets or tubs of blankets for the guests to wrap around themselves when everything gets chilly! They’ll be happy, you’ll be happy because they’re happy, and it’s such a simple yet perfect touch.

Just make sure the tub looks cute, obviously. We quite like the barrels that have been used here, but you could use rustic, old-wood pallets and wooden boxes too.

12. Winter Wedding Wonderland

What looks great against a white snowy backdrop? A horse, obviously, and a wreath, and a beautiful bride and groom! What else?

Have a look around you when you’re looking for unique winter wedding ideas. Could the backdrop right around you work for beautiful wedding pictures? Have a chat with your wedding photographer, or a few wedding photographers, to see what kind of scenic ideas they’ve got to throw at you. You should – they’ll come up with some really incredible shots that you won’t have thought of.

13. Wedding Cake with a Winter Touch

Picking the right wedding cake is often difficult for a bride-to-be, and there are so many things to take into consideration these days too, with everyone having allergies and blah, blah, blah.

We love this wedding cake with a winter touch – simple, elegant, easy. The berries and pinecones do the talking here, and that’s kind of what you want, isn’t it? The red and white stands out really well against each other too, and it just looks so … perfect. Well, we think so anyway. We’d love to know what you think about it!

14. Polaroids

It’s another simple and clever idea that many of you probably won’t have thought of, but why not use old tree branches and twigs to create a framework like these? You could have a polaroid doing the rounds at your big day, and when the photos are printed out and shaken all around, you could have everyone peg their favourites to the rope that you’ve twisted throughout it.

Some fairy lights help to finish it all off nicely, and it becomes so much more than just wedding day decor once the big day is actually over. You could take this home and pop it on a wall somewhere, a beautiful rustic reminder of the happiest day of your life.

15. Cool Wedding Invitations

Wedding invitations are another thing that often causes the bride and groom much discomfort and pain, mostly because it’s impossible to know what you want. If you’re having a close-to-Christmas wedding, now about these Save-the-Date cards? They’re winter-themed, and festively themed too, and they’re very simple. It’s all the information you need, right where you need it.

Even better than that, the bauble design could even be hung from the tree as a really clever way to combine your wedding in with Christmas. It makes for a great keepsake too, don’t you think?

16. Choose a seat, not a side.

When you get married, you join two families together. It’s a really beautiful thought, and we love the way that it is an idea featured highly in this wedding. Rather than picking a seat dependant on whether you know the bride or groom, you just pick a seat wherever you damn well feel like it. And if that’s next to the groom’s cousin but you’re the bride’s friend, who cares?

The board itself would be really easy to make before the big day at home too, using older bits of wood together. You can use stencils (or a stencil cutter) to get the words right, or you could even paint them on yourself if you have a good enough hand. Either way, however you choose to make it happen, we definitely think you should. What a beautiful idea.

17. Mistletoe Kiss

We’ve already mentioned mistletoe once, but we love this mistletoe idea so we’re bringing it up again. We just really like kissing …

If you’re having a wedding near Christmas, you can’t not have the under-the-mistletoe kiss photo. It would be like having Christmas without the tree. Again, have a chat with your photographer and one of the people int he wedding party to make sure both the camera and the mistletoe just happen to be around at the same time. We bet you’ll be glad you did.

18. Ice Skating

What comes with winter? Snow? What else? Ice, that’s what! So … why combine the two ideas? Why not go ice skating?!

If you regularly go ice skating, this makes perfect sense for unique ideas for a winter wedding, but we probably wouldn’t advise this if you’ve never put on a pair of skates in your life. You should at least have lessons first. Do you want to be the bride who falls over on the ice in her beautiful dress? What if you rip it?!

19. Festive ‘Just Married’ Wreath

You can’t forget about the ‘Just Married’ sign on the car, and we love this festive ‘Just Married’ wreath idea, another great way of mixing in Christmas traditions with your big day.

Another creation easily made at home, and one you could even get the kids involved with (child labour!), a piece of board with some beautiful glued-on embellishments, plus glitter signage sounds like a really good idea.

20. Baby It’s Cold Outside

Everyone knows it’s cold outside, so you might as well make a feature out of it when your’e getting married in the winter. This station at your wedding is basically a ‘warmth station’, with everything you need to make a hot drink that you can dunk a sweet biscuit into.

You could have tea, coffee, hot chocolates, whatever you like, it’s your big day after all. Just add a miniature Christmas tree and some candy canes for festive measure, and it’s perfect for unique ideas for a winter wedding.

21. Unique Wedding Photo Idea

If you can’t have your mom and dad at your big day for whatever reason, you could still have them there in spirit. We really like the idea of the bride and groom holding up pictures of their parents on their wedding day, during the big day. It’s a really memorable photo, and could even be used when your parents are there too.

You could build this up as a collection of photos over time – your children also taking a picture with your picture in, and then theirs after that. You might even start off a family tradition. Doesn’t that sound like an awesome idea?

22. Beautiful Veil Portrait

The veil is usually pushed out of the way when you have your wedding photos taken, but we liked this idea for unique winter wedding ideas. Rather than have the veil tucked out of the way, or blowing away from the face in the breeze, why not have it wrapped around you? Almost like a protective bubble?

We think it sounds like a really cute idea, and the right wedding photographer will be able to master this one for you. Just make sure you tell you what kind of thing you’re looking for first, maybe show them this picture?

23. Wedding Day Timeline

And for when you can’t really be bothered to print out ‘programs’ of your big day, how about just having a couple of timelines printed out, placing them in beautiful gold frames, and having them dotted in the appropriate places around your wedding location.

It’s simple, everyone will know where they should be at whatever time they need to be there, and it’ll be one less thing for you to worry about. Plus, getting all that stuff printed out is expensive. Every little helps!

There are some fabulous and unique ideas for a winter wedding here, and we hope that you’ve found plenty of inspiration to create a day that is perfect for you. You should most definitely come back and let us know how your big day went, and what pictures you managed to grab some inspo from.

And above all else, happy wedding day!

1. Matte Burgundy Coffin Nails

If you want a matte mani that’ll last the difference, you need to put the work in. Matte polishes are well known for NOT lasting as long as their shinier cousins, but being a ‘trend’, and with trends constantly changing, it’s definitely one you should check out. This is even more so the case if you have an event coming up. If nothing else, these matte nail designs for fall and winter are definitely stunning, and great for any occasion.

2. Neutral, Glitter and Burgundy Nails

Do you want to know what works really well with matte nails? Glitter nails, that’s what, especially when you team nudes and burgundy shades with a beautiful shimmer gold, just like you can see here. There’s a really good reason why you should look at mis-matched manis just like these. If you chip or break a nail, it doesn’t matter if you have the same shade at home, because you can just repair it with another shade. If you chip the burgundy nail, for example, and you don’t have that particular shade at home, take the colour off and just replace with a nude or glitter one instead. Because they are mis-matched, no one would ever know the difference. Smart right?

3. Purple Gray with a Pop of Silver

If you don’t have a matte polish, but you really can’t bear any other colour than the one you have in your head, you can instantly turn any polish you have at home into a matte finish. All you need to do this is a regular matte polish. It’s like clear coat, but rather than leaving your nails nice and glossy and shiny, they’ll make them matte instead … just as the name suggests really!

We’re certainly adding them to our wish-list for this season! Black and silver shimmer go really well together, especially for big events such as New Year’s Eve and Christmas. At the times, it’s the norm to wear glitter, so don’t be afraid to go a little overboard. Your nails ar ethe one place it’s perfectly okay to go glitter-tastic!

5. Dark Nude Design for Long Nails

Matte shades generally dry quicker than the glossier, thicker ones, so you’ll have much better luck if you use thin coats, and apply one or two. If you try to go for one thick coat, you may find that the matte doesn’t dry as even all over as you’d like.

6. Matte Marble Nails

How about combining two of this season’s hottest trends – marble nails and matte nails. It’s a look that is both unique and beautiful, and everyone will ask where you had them done! We love the way that lilac tones have been used within the white and black marble here, a great way to bring everything together. Imagine the colour possibilities though – you could go with any shade you liked. Plus, these marble designs aren’t as hard to achieve as you first may have thought! Just check out the Youtube tutorials. That’s where we learned how to do ours!

7. Matte Black, Burgundy & Gold Nails

Because matte polishes chip faster than the glossier ones do, it might be a wiser idea to keep your matte nails shorter rather than longer. They’ll be more durable, and the mani will last longer. Plus, shorter nails are more manageable … and less likely to break.

8. Matte Black Design for Short Nails

Kylie and Kendal Jenner are big fans of this matte look, and they’ve been seen with a whole host of shades on their lengthy talons. For a more long-lasting finish than what you’re used to with these matte nail designs for fall and winter, use both a matte polish in whatever colour you like, plus a clear matte top coat too. You’ll get two layers of protecting, and your mani will last the distance.

9. Glitter French Tip

This is such a simple idea, we’re actually kicking ourselves for not thinking of it sooner. It’s a simple matte manicure, but rather than having lots of decorations, the edges of the nail have been lined with a pop of gold glitter. If you’ve had your mani for a few days and it’s started to chip around the ends, you could use this glitter trick to cover up any boo-boos. That is until you can get to the salon and get them repaired, of course!

10. Matte Red

To make sure that you don’t chip the edges of these stunning matte nails, use your brush to add a quick flick of polish right along the edge of the nail. This is where the chipping will tend to start, so if you give the edge another layer of protecting, the polish will last longer.

11. Matte Neutral & White

Before you start your matte nail designs for 2019, make sure that you do the prep work. Your matte polish won’t dry properly or evenly if it comes into oil with water. In fact, the two go together just like oil and water do – it’s a bad combination.

12. Matte and Glossy Burgundy French Tip

Two trends that work so well together are matte and glossy finishes. We love these nails – such a simple design but still very eye-catching. In fact, we think these matte nail designs for fall and winter are brilliant. Once you’ve applied your matte shade, or your red pop of colour with a matte finish coat over the top, use tape to mark of the tips. Then use a glossy top coat to differentiate. It’s simple yet effective, and we kinda love it!

13. Eye-Catching Matte Design

Once you’ve gotten your matte mani, why not play around with it? Add embellishments, throw some glitter into the mix, in fact, do whatever you like. How do you know it won’t look great? Exactly – you don’t. Therefore we think you should get creative. These short nails are perfectly manageable for fall and winter. Longer nails are a real pain in the backside when you’re wearing gloves anyway!

Matte Neutral Gold and Black Nail Design

14. Marble Accent Nail

Here’s a great way to liven up an old mani too – how about those silver nail foils? They’re simply thin pieces of what looks like foil, usually in silver or gold, and you can simply place them on your nails as you can see here. They’re a great way of adding something new to an old look, especially if you have a tendency to keep the same shades or nail designs. Perhaps it’s about time you started thinking outside of the box?

15. Simple Matte Neutral Design

And then we come to these simple matte neutral designs – a negative space nail done so subtly, you would be forgiven for missing it. Again, nail foils or masking tape will be your friend here, but you can freehand the negative space if you think you have a steady enough hand.

Matte Neutral Nail Design for Long Nails

16. Matte Burgundy Nails + Gold Rhinestones

The quickest way to spice up your mani of course, is to add a few blinged-up accessories. It takes just a moment to pop these on, and you can pick from a wide range of colours and designs. Build them up so that they’re intricately blinged, or just add a rhinestone here and there. The choice is yours – make it a good one!

17. Matte Black and White Nails

Black and white nails will never go out of style, and this monochrome look has been given the blinged-up treatment we spoke about in the last matte nail designs for fall and winter. The black rhinestones on the white backdrop really stands out, but if you wanted something subtler, those black stones on the black background really gives this look an edge. Definitely one we fell in love with – how about you?

18. Purple Ombre Nails

Before you start your matte mani, make sure you use nail varnish remover to get rid of any residue from your past polish. Why? Because you won’t get a beautiful finish if there’s any stuff left over from the last time you had your nails done. Then, give the nails a good clean, and make sure you don’t use oil or lotion for your hands or cuticles until AFTER the mani is completed. You can’t use a base coat with these matte shades either. For obvious reasons!

19. Matte Neutral Coffin Nails + Gold Rhinestones

We love the idea of these matte nail designs for fall and winter, especially with the simple line of rhinestones lying down the centre of the nail itself. It’s a really good idea for something different, especially if you just want to make something out of one feature nail. How do you feel about the totally blinged-up nail while we’re there too? That’s a lot of shine!

20. Matte & Gold Metallic French Tip

What a brilliant idea! It’s a matte nail with a shiny tip, but unlike the matte and gloss looks that we explored before, two shades have been applied in this look. There’s the simple nude / neutral tone to get things started, and the gold tips in that chevron designs brings it all to life.

21. Cool Matte Nail Design

We think these nails are pretty epic, and definitely one to remember for the future. There’s the matte purple, but slightly shimmery, shade to start with, and then the matte black triangular section in the centre. We’d probably start with that – get your black done, and then cover the nail with tape (the parts that you don’t want purple) before applying that shade over the top. Finish things off with a sprinkling of glitter in the middle, and what do you have? Matte nail designs for fall and winter that everyone will love!

22. Edgy Black Nails

We’ve explored the idea of using gloss and matte before, but this one is a little different. Rather than just having a matte nail with a glossy tip, for example, an intricate design has been played in. You can barely see it when it’s not in the light, but it’s there, and it’s just enough to make your matte black nails a little something else.

23. Matte Burgundy and Glitter Fall Nails

And while we’re on the subject of patterns, how do you feel about these matte burgundy and glitter fall nails? We love the swirled pattern on these, and we definitely think it’s a look we’d like to try out for ourselves. What do you think? Are you a big fan of the swirl?

24. Matte Green and Gold Nail Design

How do you feel about green and gold? It’s a combination you might not have thought of, but this almost khaki-green shade works really well in this matte finish, especially when combined with those gold tones. The rhinestone embellishments cover the negative space on these nails, so we’d probably leave those out, but you must admit they add a certain special sparkle to the occasion?

25. Matte Black & Negative Space Nails

And while we’re on the subject of negative space nails too, these matte black and negative space nails are something else, aren’t they? Modern, funky, unique … They’re definitely nails that’ll stand out, and isn’t that what you want from your matte nail designs for 2019?

26. Orange and Red Nails with Botanical Accent Art

Brighten up your look with cute nails like these. Here we have short matte nails and some are orange and some are red. There are two accent nails to with a leafy botanical design. You can hand-paint art like this or get a similar look with a stencil. Nails like these will be perfect for the fall.

27. Bold Purple Nails

Another beautiful color you should try on your nails is purple. There are so many different shades to choose from and the one used on these nails is stunning! This is a dark and vivid purple color and it will suit any occasion and any outfit. Wear it simply or you can jazz it up with gold embellishments like featured. One of the nails has a gold gem and as you can see, it really glams up the nails. You can by these embellishments online and stick them on with nail glue.

28. Matte Red Nails with Cut Out Cuticle Design

If you are looking for unique nail art, then you need to see this next idea. These nails are all matte red but there is a small cut out design on each nail. So, around the cuticle, a small area of the nail has no color. It is a simple but statement making look. You can create a similar design yourself.  Use tape to cover the area that you do not want to be colored and paint everywhere else, then just use a matte topcoat.

Here is a gorgeous nail idea that shows how to wear pastels in style. Three of the nails are plain pastel and two of the nails feature trendy nail art. You can recreate this or choose simple colors without the accent art. Any colors can be used.

31. Matte French Ombre

One of the must-have nail looks is French ombre. French ombre uses the nude and white colors from the classic French manicure but blends the colors into ombre art. So, it combines two stylish nail designs. Not only are these ombre, but they are matte too, which makes the nails even more trendy. It is a chic and elegant nail idea that will suit any nail length and shape.

39. Glamorous Matte Black Nails

This is super glam and would be perfect for a special occasion.

44. Matte Purple Gradient

Gradient nails have become so popular. There are different ways to create this design but they all have colors that range from dark to light. Here is a stunning example. For this one, each nail is painted in a different purple shade. The thumb is very dark and the little finger nail is very light. It is a chic look and it will be easy to recreate. Just choose five colors, paint them on and finish off with matte top coat. The colors used here are: Little Plum Dress, Rising Violet, La Vie En Rose, You and Me, Dulce Amor and Mattely in Love. And there you have them – 45 matte nail designs to copy in 2019 that we think you’re going to love. There’s something for everyone, long and short, colourful or not. We can’t wait to hear which ones are your favourites, so why not get in touch and let us know!

Can you believe that 2019 is almost over? We sure can’t! It only seems like yesterday that we were celebrating Christmas! But the time is soon coming, and it’s tie to get serious about it. You need an outfit, nails, and more than that, glamorous makeup ideas for New Year’s Eve. Thankfully, we’ve found a few we think you’re really going to love …

1. Black, Brown and Gold Look

If you want to know how to get the best out of your eyelash curlers, and get beautiful long lashes like you can see here, you should heat your eyelash curlers up first! We know that sounds a little odd, but just a quick blast with your hairdryer is enough to heat it up, and your curls will stay in longer when they’ve been heat-styled. It works the same way as when you curl your hair with a heated styling tool. If you want glamorous makeup ideas for New Year’s Eve that’ll really stand out, long lashes and plenty of liner is the way forward, especially when they’re up against this beautiful black, brown and gold backdrop. It’s both elegant and festive, and that’s just why we love it!

Products used: theBalm Nude Dude Vol 2 Palette + theBalm Overshadow in No Money no Honey, Sigma gel liner in Wicked, NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk, and Lilly Ghalichi Mykonos  lashes.

2. Glitter Eye Makeup

Glitter can be really hard to wear on your face, especially if you’re not used to wearing or applying it. That’s why we suggest having a piece of tissue paper handy, and plenty of translucent powder too. Apply the powder underneath the eyes, much in the same way as you would when ‘baking’ your concealer under your eyes, and then apply your glitter. When you dust away the loose, translucent powder, you’ll also dust away that glitter residue too.

3. Gold Eyes + Red Lips

Don’t you hate it when you go to use your favourite red lipstick and you’ve found it to be broken? There is a way that you can fix it, and it’s a great thing to know right before the festive season. We all know that means red lip season! Using a lighter (or carefully using a candle), simply melt the bottom of the broken bit, and the top of the bit left in the tube, and then affix the two together, smoothing as you go. We wore gloves to do this with yours – it does have a habit of going everywhere. You might want to have a baby wipe to hand too!

Eyes: Makeup Geek Cosmetics Vegas Lights Palette (Mirage, Desert Sands, Bada Bing, Casino and Sin City eyeshadows), Eye Kandy Cosmetics glitter in Honey Drop, House of Lashes Iconic eyelashes.

Lips: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Stalker+ translucent powder.

4. Black & Gold Eyes + Nude Lips

For a quick way of going from a regular daytime look to a nighttime look, simply add some gold glitter. You can easily use a touch of vaseline, or even lip gloss, to use as ‘glitter glue’, and in the office toilet mirror, you can dab on that gold sparkle glitter you have. Add a touch of eyeliner to the bottom lashes, and then add plenty of mascara, and you have a look that could easily take you from day to night in no time at all.

Eyes: Stila magnificent metals foil finish eyeshadow in Comex Copper, Urban Decay eye shadows in Heroin and Fringe.

Lips: Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in Ashton.

5. Burgundy Cut Crease

The cut crease is one of the must-have looks if you’re on the hunt for glamorous makeup ideas for New Year’s Eve. It’s daring, bold, and beautiful when it has been done properly, but it also has the potential to look not-very-good if you don’t blend correctly. Start with the cut crease and finish the eyelid afterwards. You can use primer and concealer to cover over any mistakes you make. It’s hard work staying inside the lines!

Products used: Huda Beauty Textured Rose Gold Palette, Tarte white paint pot (glitter base), Star Crushed Minerals in Ice Queen (inner corner), Glitter Injections glitter.

6. Glitter Eyes + Pink Lips

It can be very hard work, wearing glitter as an adult, and just a pinch too much can make you look more like a circus performer than a girl who just wants to see in her New Year in style. It’s a tricky trend, but there are plenty of ways in which you can rock the lock in a more adult and sophisticated way. If you’re not quite brave enough to go for a full-on glitter, opt for a shimmery, light-reflecting shade instead. It’s a baby-step you can take before you go full-glitter.

Eyes: Motives Cosmetics Safari & Sorbet palettes, glitter Diamond, gel liner in LBD, and Pixie Luxe lashes by House of Lashes.

Lips: Motives Cosmetics Violet eyeliner + Lime Crime Utopia Velvetine lipstick.

7. Dramatic Eyes

For more drama in your life, you need dramatic eyes, and for glamorous makeup ideas for New Year’s Eve, you simply cannot beat them. If you’re worried about glitter overload, start with the tiniest amount of glitter on your brush, and build up from there. You can always add more, but it will be hard work taking some away if you’ve sprinkled too much of the stuff on your face. Trust me – glitter is a real pain in the backside to get rid of when you don’t actually want it around.

Products used: MAC eyeshadows in Soft Brown, Rule, Brown Script, Chrome Yellow, and Deep Damson, and Johnny Concert Cosmetics eyeshadow in Rich Bitch.

8. Blue Glitter Eye Makeup for Brown Eyes

If you’re going to rock glitter, especially a bold and brave glitter shade like this bright blue pop, make sure you stick to the one-feature rule. Pick one feature on your face, and glitter that up. Don’t go for glitter eyes AND glitter lips, because then you’re running the risk of glitter overload. And for just the slightest hint of glitter for your glamorous makeup ideas for New Year’s Eve, just add the tiniest amount to the centre of your eyelid.

10. Brown Smokey Eye + Gold Glitter Lower Lash Line

If you don’t want to rock glitter on your eyelids, how about the lower lash line instead? It’s a simple addition, and a modern way of wearing it, plus you can really go to town with the shades you choose. Add a silver glitter over whatever colour eyeshadow you like, for example. Or use gold liner and add a touch of sparkle and shimmer over the top for special effect. We love this look, how about you?

11. Gold Glitter Cut Crease

When looking at wearing glitter, make sure you’re matching your makeup to the occasion. We know that you want to look your best at all times, but your Grandma probably won’t appreciate your gold glitter cut crease half as much as your gal-pals will. At the same time, wearing glitter can be too much for a daytime look, so perhaps keep your makeup muted throughout the day, and add that glitter sparkle for the evening.

Products used: Morphe 35W Palette, theBalm Schwing liquid liner, Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy glitter liner and Lilly Ghalichi Mykonos lashes.

12. Elegant Eye Makeup for Blue Eyes

Glitter without any kind of primer or glitter glue is a really bad idea, especially around the eyes. Loose glitter is often the worst culprit for this, and it won’t be long before you find yourself with a touch of glitter in your eye, which makes your eyes run, and then your mascara will be all down your face. What a total disaster! You can always use a touch of setting spray on the applicator brush you’re using to apply the glitter, which will also help to keep it in place on your eyes. Alternatively, cheat a little with a glitter eyeliner instead. No one would ever know the difference!

Products used: Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Bedrock, ABH eyeshadows in Noir, Deep Brown, Fawn and Warm Taupe, Dose of Colors eyedeal duo in Pixie Dust, Sigma Line Ace Liner in Legend, and Huda Beauty Farah lashes.

13. Classic Look – Gold Eyes & Red Lips

If you don’t like loose glitter powder, but you still want to sparkle with these glamorous makeup ideas for New Year’s Eve, opt for a glitter gel rather than a powder. Alternatively, mix some eyelash glue (the tiniest bit) with some glitter, and you’ll have the same kind of effect. When you go to bed at night, the glue will peel away from your face, and the glitter will peel right off with it! No more glittery pillow cases!

Eyes: Too Faced Stardust Palette (Millenial, Chandelier, The Strip, Pink Pearl and Golden Nugget), huda Beauty Scarlett lashes.

Lips: Gerard Cosmetics lipstick in Fire Engine.

14. Dark Gold

You can mix and match your glamorous makeup ideas for New Year’s Eve, choosing colours and shades that match your outfit. On the other hand, you can say ‘screw the rules!’, and totally spice things up. This gold eye makeup, for example, could easily be worn with a number of festive clothing shades – black, gold, red, green, purple, need we go on?

15. Grey & Silver Combo

And for when you’re not feeling gold, how about silver? Mixing a dark grey with a lighter silver shimmer or glitter powder will give you a stunning look just like this one. And the sparkle effect makes it one of the perfect glamorous makeup ideas for New Year’s Eve! You may find silver a slightly easier shade to wear, especially if you’re new to the world of metallics. It’s easier to smoke your silver up into a smokey-eye, and therefore is perfect for many different occasions – NYE being just one of them!

16. Step by Step Tutorial

In case you were wondering what the easiest way was to get a beautiful and easy makeup look for New Year’s Eve, how about this little tutorial? You can replace the shades and tones they use here with whatever shades and colours YOU want, but following the same idea – darker shades in the socket, lighter shades towards the inner corner, and you’ll look fabulous and more alert all at the same time!

17. Silver Eyes + Dark Lips

It’s generally commonplace to leave your eyes relatively neutral when you have big, statement lips, but this look has been given a bit of sparkle treatment. It’s still relatively neutral, in gold, nude and beige-like tones, but the addition of that sparkle stops it from being too daytime.

Lips: ABH lip gloss in Venom.

18. Glitter Cut Crease

How steady is your hand? With the right liquid glitter eyeliner, or even some glitter glue and loose powder if you’ve brave enough, you could create glamorous makeup ideas for New Year’s Eve like this one. It’s basically another layer of eyeliner, copying the natural flow and shape of the black eyeliner, but lining the socket instead, just at the line here the dark and light shades would blend together.

19. Dramatic Eyes + Nude Lips

And when you have big statement eyes, it’s always a good idea to keep your lips neutral, especially if you’re experimenting with big and bold looks for the first time. You don’t want to go too overboard, mostly because you won’t feel confident, but also because it’ll prevent you from trying the looks again. Pick one feature on your face – eyes or lips, and go for the big statement makeup on just one of them. When you pick one, and leave the other relatively nude or neutral, you’re making your entire look much easier to wear. You can go bigger and bolder on the eyes, for example, when the lips are slightly more played down.

20. Glitter Liner + Pink Lips

Remember we said about that glitter eyeliner in the cut crease? Well, here’s a slightly different way of wearing it – adding another layer to your regular eyeliner look. It’s just the addition of an extra line of liner – it’s above the black liner that you’d naturally do on a day to day basis. Yu could do the black liner thinner than you usually would to compensate for this tiny silver liner-layer, or you can make it bigger and bolder. It’s entirely up to you.

21. Black Smokey Eye

Here’s a sparkly little way to liven up that black smokey eye you;d usually wear for a big night out – its a touch of gold, and a very cool touch of gold at that! It’s just the addition of an extra line of liner – it’s above the black liner that you’d naturally do on a day to day basis. You could do the black liner thinner than you usually would to compensate for this tiny silver liner-layer, or you can make it bigger and bolder. It’s entirely up to you.

Products used: ABH single eye shadows in Fudge, Morrocco and Noir, NYX jumbo pencil in Black Bean, Violet Voss glitter in Geri, and Huda Beauty lashes in Raquel.

22. Smokey & Glitter Eyes

And for killer eyebrows, the best thing you can do is to get them shaped professionally. We know we’re meant to say that, but once you have the basic DECENT shape formed into your brows, it’s easier to keep them maintained yourself with some tweezing and plucking here and there. It’s just the addition of an extra line of liner – it’s above the black liner that you’d naturally do on a day to day basis. You could do the black liner thinner than you usually would to compensate for this tiny silver liner-layer, or you can make it bigger and bolder. It’s entirely up to you.

Again, keeping with the ‘rules of smokey eyes’, the lips have been left relatively neutral with this look – the eyes giving you the oomph you need. We hope that we’ve given you plenty of inspiration for your glamourous makeup ideas for New Year’s Eve, but as always, we can’t wait to see how fabulous you all look! Have a super good one, have a drink for us!

So … what are you going to be wearing for NYE? Have you got your little black dress ready? Planned your snazziest heels? Planned out your hair? What about your nails? Just in case you were running a little low on inspiration, here are 31 snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs that we think are just perfect for the occasion!

1. Matte Black + Glitter

How do you feel about matte nails? How do you feel about glitter nails? Well, put them together and we think you’ve got the perfect design for NYE nails, no matter what dress or shoes you’re pairing them with.

It just wouldn’t be New Year’s Eve without a little sparkle, and with these nails, you’ve got just the right amount of sparkle. We especially love the way a half n’ half nail has been created. That one is our favourite!

2. Gold Glitter Ombre

If you want to keep your nails short and easier to manage and maintain this NYE, how about these snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs? It’s a gold glitter ombre and we love it!

You can use a sponge to dab the gold glitter on the top of your base shade to help get that ombre effect. You could even switch up the grey for a different shade if you wanted to, or even change the colour of the glitter. It’s easy, simple, and will take five minutes to do as you’re walking out the door which, of course, makes it a definite winner!

3. White & Gold

These nails are beautiful! Perhaps a bit blinged-up for some, but if you want nails that are bold, bright and beautiful, these are definitely some to check out!

White is such a cool colour, and any shade that you place over the top of it will automatically pop when applied to that white backdrop. If you wanted to recreate these for your NY celebrations, simply use tape to mask the main bulk of the nail, leaving just the tip free, and then paint just that section in the contrasting glitter shade.

4. Matte Burgundy + Glitter

If you’ve already had your manicure but regretted the decision not to add some sparkle in the salon, just add it yourself at home. With one sweep of the brush you could easily recreate that straight line down the centre of the nail.

You could also add a base coat stripe of colour, and then add a glitter shade over the top if you wanted a contrasting look. There are so many ways you could customise these snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs to make them perfect for you and your look.

5. Gold Metallic Nails

If you want nails that look as good as this, you’ll need to start with a good regime beforehand. Take away any old polish with remover, and then file down any bad or rough edges.

If you’re opting for a matte shade, don’t use a cuticle cream or lotion until after you’ve painted your nails and they have dried. Otherwise the oil will react to the matte and you won’t get the look you’re going for.

6. Pink Glitter Coffin Nails

Coffin nails were a big trend for this year, and they aren’t showing any signs of going away soon. This is even more so the case when you appreciate that every celebrity is rocking them right now – from the Kardashians to news reporters, and everyone in between.

They might not be the most practical nails (especially if you’ve got kids), but they certainly look good. It is a special occasion after all!

7. Simple and Easy

The easiest way to spice up your mani is to add some glitter, and if you’ve only got the time to paint one nail, just paint one nail. It’s as simple as that.

Simple New Year's Eve Nail Design for Short Nails

You don’t want too much, but you just want something extra to make you feel in the NYE spirit, right? These nails are perfect – short, simple, subtle, and sassy!

8. Black and Gold

Nail decals are a great way to bring a new lease of life to your mani, and they take just seconds to apply to your nails. That’s just one reason why we love them so much.

Decals come in super handy when you’re no good at freehand painting, and you can also achieve more looks in a shorter space of time too. Just make sure you add a good top coat, and then let it dry, so it stays in place.

9. Eye-Catching Ombre Design

Using a sponge, you can easily create an ombre nail whether it’s glitter you’re trying to achieve it with, or a matte / glossy shade.

Apply some of your polish to the triangular makeup sponge and then dab on the nail. You can always remove bits that have gone too far down.

10. Neutral, Black & Gold

These nails are stunning, and they’ll reflect the light beautifully so be prepared for all those compliments you’re going to get! When you think about it, New Year’s Eve is just one night of the year. If you can’t go for a really bold and bright nail at NYE, when can you?

A more bronze-gold shade of glitter has been used here, and we’re desperately in love with these snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs.

We just keep thinking about the glasses of champagne that those nails would go hand in hand with!

11. Sparkly Gray Nails

Why not darken up your silver, making it more grey than shiny? You’ve got the light grey, and you’ve also got the light grey sparkly glitter. However, there’s a slightly darker hue in there, giving it a different look entirely.

Gray Glitter Ombre Nail Design for Short Nails

Source: @naildecor

Another great look for both long nails and short nails alike, they’re easy and simple, and you can do these ones yourself at home. You’ll save a fortune from the regular nail salon trips!

12. Matte Burgundy & Gold

If you’re trying to recreate these snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs at home but only have a few minutes to do it in, here’s a trick that will help your mani dry quicker …

Matte Burgundy and Gold New Year's Eve Nails

Source: @lexdonails

When the paint is just dry – tacky – submerge them in ice cold water. The water will cause the polish to harden, and it’ll dry quicker too. Just make sure that you’re not putting WET nails in the water. It’ll ruin your mani.

13. Red and Gold Stiletto Nails

Another great tip that beauty professionals use when in a hurry is to give the nails a quick coating with spray oil. Yes, cooking oil in a spray. It helps to ‘set’ your new nail look, and at the same time, it’ll also stop the paint from smudging all around the place.

We’d say that was a perfect tip to take away with you, especially if you need to get these snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs done quickly, and with minimal fuss.

14. Edgy Black Coffin Nails

One thing you may notice when wearing dark shades such as these is that they can often leave your nails looking yellow, especially once you’ve taken the paint off. The good news is that there are things you can do to avoid this from happening.

Soaking your nails after taking off a dark polish is important to try and prevent that staining, but lemon juice (or pushing the nail into a lemon) can also have the same effect because of the natural bleaching agents.

15. Easy Black and Gold Nails

Do you remember that sponge-ombre tip we told you about? Well, here’s another way you could use it! This time, black and gold are the colours of choice, and when it comes to snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs, you can’t get more snazzier than these!

If you find glitter nail polish a real pain in the backside to get rid of, try adding a coat of PVA glue before you add the glitter. It’ll peel right off when you want it to, but it’ll stay in place with a nice layer of top coat.

16. Red & Gold Combo

And if black and gold didn’t quite float your boat, how do you feel about red and gold? Red is the colour of passion and love, and gold is … well, gold. Everyone loves gold, don’t they? It screams luxury and expense.

Red Ombre Glitter Nail Design for Short Nails

Source: @amvpnails

These nails could easily be done on long nails, short nails, stiletto, oval, rounded, coffin, you name it. You could get carried away with the glitter on one nail too. Or more than that, in fact – they’re YOUR nails!

17. Black and Dark Gold Nails

When applying glitter to your mani, dab it, don’t brush it. When you dab, you have better control over where the glitter actually ends up, and you’ll be more likely to get a decent coverage of your nail.

When you try to brush glitter on, it’ll just smear around your nail, and you run the risk of ruining your undercoat if it hasn’t dried fully yet. So remember kids – dab, don’t rub!

18. Matte Black + Rose Gold Sequins

When it comes to getting your manicure just right, it’s a much better idea to get a smooth finish by using multiple thin coats of your favourite polish, rather than one big one.

When you add a thick, gloopy layer of polish to your nails, it will take longer to dry, giving you more time to mess and smudge things up. It’s also less likely to be smooth finishing, giving you a rough and uneven surface. That won’t make your snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs look very good at all!

19. Easy DIY Design

This is one of the easiest tricks in the book, and it looks really classy and sophisticated too. Not bad for a stuck-on rhinestone embellishment right?

Once you have completed your mani, and your nails are dry, simply add a little something extra to the base of the nail, right in the middle. We love these gold circles, but you could opt for anything. You could even have themed embellishments – Christmas, champagne flute, etc.

20. Matte with a Pop of Gold

If you don’t have nail foils or tape to hand, there is something else you can use to get those perfect tips. How about a band-aid? You simply place it over your nail, covering the areas you don’t want to paint, covering the bits that are left exposed.

Then when the nail is dry, remove the band-aid, and you’ll have perfect tips in whatever shade!

21. Sparkly Coffin Design

Coffin nails are all the rage right now, and if you’re looking for snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs, you won’t get much more sparkling and dazzling than these. There’s plenty of glitter and shimmer which automatically means we LOVE them!

Nail foils have been used to create that small design on the base of the middle nail, although you could go nuts with your design. Alternatively, leave things super simple (and beautiful) with those half and half, almost-ombre effect nails. We adore those!

22. Black & Rose Gold

This is a really simple idea, and one that won’t actually take you that long to complete at home. Use a base coat, then your nude colour, and when that is completely dry, tape off the tips in a chevron pattern. Alternatively, use band-aids like we suggested earlier.

Paint the black gloss, and when that’s dried, add your glitter over the top. Then remove the tape, add a top coat, and you’ll be good to go. It shouldn’t take much more than ten minutes or so.

23. The Perfect Gold Shade

Textured nails are a big deal right now, and this gold textured look is a great one. It’s a little something different from the usual shiny / glittery nails you might normally look towards when on the hunt for snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs.

Again, to get a look like this, you’ll want multiple fine coats rather than one big one. You’ll need a super-smooth finish to get this one looking right, and you won’t achieve that with thick and gloopy polish that’ll make an age to dry.

24. Neutral + Gold Glitter

It’s like an ombre, but rather then the sparkle being at the tips, it’s been kept towards the base of the nail, a totally different look!

Neutral and Gold Glitter Ombre for Short Nails

Source: @naildecor

This just goes to show that the simplest of changes can completely transform the way your mani looks. Even something as simple as moving the glitter ombre form the top to the bottom can give you a brand new mani-idea.

25. Glittery Fireworks

These are so clever, we’re a little bit on awe of them. To celebrate New Year’s Eve the right way, you must have fireworks, and if you’re not having them in the back garden, why not on your nails?

Using a fine tipped brush, sweep the glitter in firework-shaped lines. That’s basically all this look is – clever sweeping with a thin brush dipped in silver glitter. So easy, so perfect, so awesome!

26. Rose Gold & Neutral Nails

Another fabulous look – tips and the base of the nail have been taken into account here, a beautiful spattering of rose gold glitter. In case you weren’t aware, rose gold is a huge trend right now – hair, nails, make up …

You could hand-paint these, or use tape, but whatever you do, make sure you do it. These nails are awesome, and if you don’t bag them, someone else will.

27. Matte Red

Matte nail polish can be quite hard to work with. Firstly, it won’t work with anything oil-based so you can’t use creams and lotion on your hands beforehand. Secondly, matte polishes never last as long as glossy ones. It’s the perfect excuse to revamp your nails quicker!

Matte Red and Gold Glitter Nail Art Design for Holidays

Source: @glambymeli

This red shade is wonderful, but to make sure it lasts the difference, apply a red matte shade, and then go over the top of the nail with a matte top coat. Like a glossy one, but matte. It gives you an extra level of protection along with the matte red.

28. Perfect Last-Minute Design

Remember we told you to dab on glitter rather than brush it around your nail? With a look like this, dabbing is the way forward.

At least then you can make sure that you’re covering all of the nail that you want to – very important for snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs.

29. Gold Glitter Chevron Design

Another one you’ll need tape or foils for – gold glitter chevron nail designs. It’s clever, can be customised with a wide range of both colours and finishes, and you can even add more bling in the form of embellishments.

We’d say that these were perfect for the New Year festivities and celebrations, wouldn’t you?

30. Gold Sequins & Glitter

A gel polish will help you to get a super shiny look for your snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs, but these can be hard to get right at home. So many people make mistakes, such as missing out the cuticle oil, and not preparing for the mani beforehand.

Gold Glitter Sequin Ombre Nail Design

Source: @zigiztyle

If you have the chance, a salon appointment is always going to give you a better result than the one you do at home. This is usually because you just don’t have the time (or effort) to dedicate to the cause. It’s New Year after all – time to push the boat out?

31. Gold & Light Pink Coffin Nails

Although coffin nails are a big trend for right now, there are so many different styles, shapes, and lengths of nail design to pick from now, there’s bound to be something that you can get along with.

If you find longer talons much harder to go about your day to day life with, try shorter, squarer-tipped nails, or ask in your salon what they think might be better for your lifestyle. Shorter is better and more practical, but longer looks prettier (for some). It’s about weighing up those pros and cons.

So, what do you think? Which of these snazzy New Year’s Eve nail designs are you obsessed with? We can’t pick our favourite, but we do know that we love most of them. We can’t wait of the celebrations to come around, and we hope you have a great New Year too!

We know how it is – New Year’s Even is a really big deal. Everyone gets dress up, everyone wants to party, and when everyone is in the party mood, out comes the party outfits! If you’re struggling to think of a great outfit idea for this year’s celebrations, don’t worry. We’ve done the hard work so you don’t have to, and here are 35 New Year’s Eve outfit ideas:

1. Burgundy Velvet Dress

Velvet is a big trend right now, and red / burgundy is a great colour for Christmas. So … when you think about it, this burgundy velvet dress is perfect for the occasion. It’s a wonderfully tailored dress, and that’s great for when you want something to nip and tuck. Just remember to grab a shawl or a throw – it might get chilly watching the fireworks outside in the cold!

2. Sequin Playsuit

Wow! What a beautiful playsuit! Sequins were made for New Year. They go together much like New Year and glitter goes together. And with these sequins, it’ll look like you’re wearing glitter, which instantly makes it a winner for us. If you’re worried about the cold, team it with tights. You could also consider throwing it on with some thigh-high boots for a real kick-ass look, and we can’t help but think a faux-fur jacket over the top would go pretty well too.

3. Pink Sequin Jumpsuit

For then the playsuit is too chilly, how about the pink sequin jumpsuit? We’re a little bit in love with this sparkly little number. In fact, there’s no “little bit” about it. We’re wholeheartedly obsessed. When you wear nude shoes, particularly heeled and pointed shoes, it automatically makes your legs look longer, which is why these nude beauties go so well with this sassy little jumpsuit. We think it’s damn fabulous!

4. Little Black Dress

You can’t really go wrong with a LBD – little black dress – and it’s a great one to wear for the cold too. Team with tights and pretty shoes, or even boots, and you have a look that you could quite easily wear to the office during the day. 5. Green Sequin Dress

And for when a little black dress just won’t do the trick, how about a little green dress? A little green sequin dress to be precise? And don’t worry, if green isn’t your colour, we’ve seen this in red, blue, gold, silver, and a whole host of other colours, all of which can still be worn with tights and heels, just like you can see here.

6. Velvet Top + Midi Skirt

We told you that velvet was a big deal, and if you feel like showing off what mama gave you, how about this sassy little number? It’s definitely sexy, and that beautiful midi skirt really gives you a silhouette to be proud of. An pencil-style skirt like the one is so flattering for a wide range of body shapes and types. You could even team it with a body or a sweater if you wanted something a tad warmer.

7. Sequin Bottoms

For when you’re not really feeling the dress vibe, how about some sequin trousers instead? There’s something very jazzy about these, and in case you were wondering how you would wear them, this look gives you a very classic way. Team a crisp white mens shirt with an oversized black bow tie, and you have a masculine yet feminine look that’s just perfect for the New Year festivities. As far as New Year’s Eve outfit ideas go, this one is so sparkly, we couldn’t possibly ignore it.

8. Metallic Red Dress

Do you remember when we said you could get that green sequin dress in a wife range of colours and shades? Well … Ta Dah! Red is such a classically festively colour, perfect for Christmas, New Year, any time of the year in fact. A dress like this would be an investment – it’s not the kind of dress you’ll only wear once. We bet you’ll be dying for any old excuse to wear it, New Year or no New Year.

9. Black & Gold

Proud of your cleavage? If you’ve got a killer one, why not show it off? This black and gold dress is just the right amount of sassy-sexy, but not too much. You could still get away with wearing this sultry number when the family are still about. Once again, a nude shoe has been added to lengthen and elongate those legs, but this time, a gold embellished shoe has been chosen. We think it’s the perfect choice!

10. Navy Blue Velvet Dress

Velvet can be quite hard to wear, especially if you’ve never given the fabric a shot before. But it’s such a luxurious material, even Princess Diana was said to be a big fan, that we couldn’t possibly go without having a little mention for this blue beauty. If you’re worried about wearing velvet for the first time, opt for a darker shade. It’ll be easier to wear than something really bright, bold and in-your-face.

11. Dark Green Outfit + Red Lips

We’re back to the playsuit again, which can only mean one thing – they’re very much in trend. Again, this can be quite a daunting move if you’ve never braved one before, but pairing it with tights can help you to feel less self conscious. Another great tip for when you’ve got your legs out is to always wear a heel, even if it is only a little one. It’ll make your legs seem longer, elongated, and more muscly.

12. Black & Gold Sequin Dress

Of course, when you’re wearing a short dress, you can’t forget about the important details … such as your legs. You’ll need to prepare in advance if you’re going for an outfit like this. It’s not like you’ll be able to rush into the tanning salon last minute on New Year’s Even if your legs are much whiter than you’d like. Get your stuff ready early enough, and you won’t have any problems. The last thing you’ll want is to put your dress on NYE and it not fit … Just try, prepare, and get ready before the big day.

13. Embellished Playsuit

When you’re wearing something as bright and shiny as this embellished playsuit, you may find that you’ll need to be a tad more conservative with your jewellery choices. Too much bling surrounding this look can cheapen it, so try to go for fine pieces that won’t take too much attention from the outfit itself.

Plus … it’s beautiful. Don’t you think?

That 70’s kick flare style is back again, but when you take a peek at this blue velvet jumpsuit, we’re sure you won’t be complaining. Elegant and simple, it’s quite daring in the cleavage department, but if you’re feeling self-conscious, you could always throw on a lacy bandeau bra. We’re a little in love with this one – how about you? (Plus it’ll be warmer than a legs-out playsuit!)

With looks like these, the correct base is important, and that means getting the right undies!

We hope you have a great New Year! And we can’t wait to see what you lovelies chose to wear for the occasion!

15 New Year's Eve Outfit Ideas

Your makeup is just as important as your outfit, gifts, and the Christmas dinner on the big day itself, so get it right the first time. We’ve brought you plenty of inspiration with these Christmas makeup ideas to copy this season!

Pull up a chair, get your makeup bag ready, and perch yourself in front of a mirror. It’s time for us to start playing around in your makeup box!

1. Gold Glitter Eyes + Red Lips

When it comes to Christmas, you can’t get a more iconic look than red lips and gold glitter eyes – two of the biggest shades associated with the festive season. To achieve this brilliant eye makeup look, you’ll need to start with a primer – this is important to make sure your eye makeup doesn’t move at all. Glitter has a habit of getting everywhere, so make sure you apply / hold a piece of tissue underneath the eye so you can mop up any spills. You could also consider putting translucent powder down, and then brushing it all away, with the excess glitter, when you’re all done.

2. Dramatic Smokey Eye

The smokey eye look is a favourite among the festive season, because it goes with practically every party outfit you could think of. The one thing we don’t appreciate, however, is removing the smokey eye makeup the next morning … because you know we won’t remember to do it before we go to sleep that night! Here’s a great tip if you’re having a hard time removing old makeup, and it’s super good for your face too! Coconut oil is not only a great makeup remover when used with a cotton wool ball or pad, but it also nourishes and hydrates your face, all at the same time!

Products used: Monarch Palette by Kat Von D, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk (waterline) Anastasia Beverly Hills SO Hollywood Illuminator (inner corner).

3. Dark Green Eyes

Green is a very brave old shade to wear in makeup, but it’s totally achievable once you know how to rock it properly. You need to know the right green shade to wear for both your skin tone and hair colour, and you also need to know how to apply it properly so that it packs the maximum impact. You should start with your eyes when going for a bold shade like these dark green eyes – leave the foundation and everything else until you’ve finished. The brows and eyes are going to be the most eye-catching part of this look, so start with them and then mute the rest of your makeup regime down to match / highlight the green shades, not clash with them.

4. Festive Green and Gold Look

And if you’re not bold or brave enough to go for a solid green eyelid, how about green eyeliner? We love the way it’s been teamed with the gold pop here, bringing the two festive shades together. If it’s Christmas makeup ideas to copy this season you’re on the hunt for, you could do a lot worse than this. Here’s a great tip if you don’t have a green eyeliner to hand, and let’s face it, who does? You can use a regular eyeshadow as eyeliner with a small lid filled with water, and your regular green eyeshadow. Dip the brush in the water, brush the excess moisture off, and then dip in the green eyeshadow, applying and building up as you would with regular eyeliner. You may find that you need a couple of layers to get that green pigment through, but you can achieve exactly the same look as a liquid eyeliner.

Lips: NYX Big Cherry

5. Dark Gold Eyes + Dark Lips

It’s hard work wearing big eye makeup and big lips at the same time, but this gold and dark red combo shows you how to do it the right way. The eyes, although packed with shimmer and shine, are quite muted, leaving the big red lips to do the job they were intended to do. That tiny hint of white / pale shimmer on the inside corner of your eyes really help to open them up to, and it works with the gold eyelid shade!

6. Glitter Cut Crease

The cut crease is such a hard look to achieve at home, especially if you’ve never practiced it before. The one tip we would definitely give to you is practice, practice, practice! Work on the cut crease first, and then clean it up afterwards if necessary. Trying to achieve the nude eyelid, and then adding the darker or brighter cut crease later, is much harder to achieve.

7. Brown Smokey Eye + Glitter Eyeliner

If you don’t want to go for a traditional black smokey eye, how about a brown one instead? With the right shades blended together, the look is just as popping, but it’s much easier to wear than the harsh black and dark grey tones that you’d normally find. You can use the brown hues from your highlighter and contour palette if you don’t have the right tools for the job. We’ve managed to recreate an entire brown smokey eye look just with that one contour palette alone and a big fluffy blending brush.

8. Gold Eyes + Nude Lips

To get the right nude lips, you should first start by making sure you have good condition lips. Use a lip exfoliator first, and you could even use a homemade sugar scrub with a soft toothbrush to brush those dead skin cells away first. Then apply your balm, and give it plenty of time to soak in while you do the rest of your makeup regime, and then at the end, use a lip liner first to “overline” them slightly – this is what gives them that fuller appearance. Once you’ve added your nude lip shade, and then the gloss (if you want it) over the top, dab a touch of highlighter to the centre of your bottom lip to make it light-reflecting and appear bigger.

9. Black Glittery Smokey Eye

For a real difference this party season, don’t just settle for a plain old smokey eye – add a touch of glitter! It instantly brightens things up, and can also stop from you looking too “gothic” if your smokey eye has come out much more smokey than you’d first anticipated. If you want easy Christmas makeup ideas to copy this season, add a touch of glitter. It doesn’t matter what colour or shade you’ve used for your smokey eye – brown, black, charcoal greys, or even colour such as greens and blues, they instantly look more festive with a touch of glitter!

10. Matte Plum Lips

If you want to wear darker shades of lipstick, and wear them well, you should keep your darker shades for the evening, or big events. Wearing a really rich plum look to the office during the day might be a bit much, unless you keep the rest of your makeup relatively nude and subtle. If you don’t know what shade of dark lipstick to wear for your light-eyes, a burgundy with a hint of pink about it would be just right, and darker eyes can opt for something with a brown tone.

Eyes: ABH Master Palette by Mario, and ABH eyeshadow in Noir, NYX glitter in Gold Dust.

11. Silver Glitter Liner + Red Lips

For a really sparkly way to revamp your makeup for this festive season, grab your silver liner, and buy yourself a small pop of silver glitter too. Once you’ve added your traditional black eyeliner, give it a little something extra by outlining the edge of it with your silver liner, applying the tiniest amount of glitter sparkle just to bring it to life. Simple, effective, and perfect for Christmas!

12. Emerald Smokey Eye

This dark green smokey eye has been cleverly blended with a darker brown shade in the eye socket, and this is a really simple addition if you’ve never tried it before. It’s a look used by older women to help them look more youthful. Once you’ve applied your green shade all over the eyeshadow, use your big fluffy blending brush again to blend some of the darker brown shade into the socket, blending carefully the green into the brown. You don’t want to cover one colour with another, it’s all about the blending.

13. This Look Screams ‘Festive’!

If you invest in just one piece of makeup equipment this year, let it be highlighter. A highlighter has the capacity to completely transform your face, and your makeup look, with just a simple swish. Applied to the top of the cheekbones, you’ll look younger and more alert because of the light reflecting properties, and you can even help to re-shape your nose by adding some to the centre, and then the tip. It’s one of those beauty products you just can’t live without, and is definitely essential for creating Christmas makeup ideas to copy this season just like this one.

14. Gold and Brown Eyes

What goes better with gold than brown? Especially when you want a subtle but festive Christmas look, that doesn’t use to many shades or products. It’s simple a case of blending the gold (inner corner of the eye) to the darker brown shade (outer corner of the eye and eye socket). One great tip that we learned was to practice blending on your hand first, before you move it onto your eye. It’s one of those practice makes perfect situations.

Products used: Flaming Love Palette by Makeup Addiction Cosmetics & NYX Matte Black Liquid Liner.

15. Holiday Party Look

If you struggle to apply your false lashes, like so many of us do, here’s a clever tip that’ll make life a lot easier. Before you apply your lashes, you may find that they’re a tad too straight, making them super difficult to apply. If you wrap the lashes around a makeup brush, or even your thumb, for a moment, they will take on a more curved look, and they’ll be easier to apply to your curved eyelids. These dramatic Christmas makeup looks wouldn’t be complete without falsies, and hopefully that little trick will help you apply yours quicker!

Lips: Liquid Maven Mattes liquid lipstick in Rust N Roll.

16. Matte Eyes and Lips

If you want to achieve a look as glamorous as this, you’re going to need to learn how to blend your eyeshadow, and the easiest way to start doing this is to practice blending two shades together on your hand or arm first. When working with deeper, matte shades such as the Christmas makeup ideas to copy this season you can see here, it’s best to start with a little eyeshadow, and build your way up. It’s easier to apply more as and when you need it than it is to take it away once it’s already on your face.

17. Matte Brown Eyes with a Pop of Gold

And if you love the colour brown, but you want a brand new way to wear it than the plain browns, nudes and neutral shades that you’re using to blending the shade with, how about gold? It doesn’t take a look to complete transform the look, as you can see from this clever makeup idea. Just a hint of gold in the inner corner of the eye is enough to not only open the eye up and make it appear brighter and wider, but also adds a shimmer to the occasion. Perfect for Christmas festivities if you ask us!

Products used: Anastasia Beverly Hills Shadow Couture Palette in shades Morocco (crease) and Fudge (lid).

18. Makeup Look for Blue Eyes

Gold looks great with blue eyes, but there are a few shades you could experiment with if this yellow-gold hue isn’t quite to your liking. Rust / terracotta shades are also great for those big baby blues, and you could also add a pink / purple hue in with your gold too. There are lots of shades to experiment with, so perhaps its about time you started? Take one of the looks you can see here as inspiration, and then make it your own – adding your own shades and hues, and even glimmer finishes if you like.

Eyes: Crease eyeshadows –  ABH Noir, Hot Chocolate, Red Earth, Fawn, Orange Soda and Soft Peach; Lid eyeshadows – ABH in Peach Sorbet and Amber; Inner corner – ABH in Gold Rush; StarCrushed Minerals glitter in Golden Ticket.

Lips: MAC lipstick in Sin.

19. Gold Glitter Eyes + Light Pink Lips

In order to get big, plump lips like these light pink lovelies, how about investing in a good plumping lip product? A primer helps to keep the look in check throughout the day, but a good glossy top coat with plumping properties could give you the pout you’d always wanted. If you don’t like the feeling of plumping lip glosses (they’re often rather tingly), you could try a light-reflecting trick instead. A touch of a light, shimmery eyeshadow applied to the centre of the bottom lip will make it appear bigger, and you could also look at adding a touch of highlight to your cupids bow too.

Eyes: Makeup Geek eyeshadows

Lips: Huda Beauty liquid lipstick in Retro Coral and Milkshake.

20. Green & Brown

Beautiful, neutral shades, you might not have thought about putting green and brown together for your Christmas makeup ideas to copy this season, but as you can see, they are two shades that work together perfectly … when they have been properly blended. If you want to become a pro at eyeshadow blending, work with the crease you’ve already got. Use your brush in the hollow at the top of your eyelid, just as it reaches the outer part of the socket, and use your natural lines and contours. Start from the outer corner and sweep the brush in, using light ‘fluffing’ motions. With the right brush, and the right technique, your eyeshadow will be blended like a pro in no time at all.

Products used: Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette and Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour palette.

21. Classic Festive Makeup Look

How about a classically festive look? Gold eyes, plenty of liquid eyeliner, and a pop of red matte lips to finish it all off. It’s so classic, and so very glamorous too, so you can understand why it makes to the list of Christmas makeup ideas to copy this season! If you struggle to keep your hands steady when applying eyelashes, which are clearly essential for this wowing look, keep your elbows on a flat surface and look down into your mirror. This can help to stop the shaking that often happens when you’re trying to concentrate on getting them just-so, and stability is always important for a vital part of the makeup look such as this one.

Eyes: ABH single eyeshadows in Orange Soda, Sienna, Noir and Amber.

Lips: Beauty Bakerie Makeup in Cranberry Stiletto Lip Whip.

22. Gold Eyes + Purple Lips

How do you feel about a dark purple / plum shade on the lips? It can be quite daunting to wear a really deep or rich shade, especially if this is your first time, but one thing that can definitely help is a chat with your local drug store or makeup supplier. The people who are selling you makeup often know more than you think they do, so why not ask their opinion on which shade of deep, rich lipstick you should buy? Alternatively, do some research to see what works with your skin tone and hair colour, and try to match it from there. Not all shades will suit everybody, and it’s just a case of working out which one is the most likely to be flattering for you.

23. Simple Christmas Makeup

If you really struggle to get your eyeliner on point, stop stressing out about it. The more you stress, the higher the chances you’ll screw it up, and that’ll just stress you out even more.

Work from the flick inwards – create the flick, and then use the natural sweeping motion of your hand to carry the flick on right over the eyelid, and to the inner corner. There are lots of tutorials on Youtube with lots of different ways to get your eyeliner right, and we’d suggest taking a peek. Just because you can’t get along with one method, doesn’t mean you won’t ever find one that works for you.

You may need to practice a little but the end result will be worth it. Recreate this look or try the eyeliner with different eyeshadow shades.

26. Shimmery Gold Eyes with Dark Red Lips

Warm up your look for the winter season with makeup like this. The eyes are a coppery tone with glitter. This was created with the Prism Palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills. The glitter is from LYCHEEXO. For the lips you will need Tarte Cosmetics Frenemy Lip Paint or a product like it.

27. Gold Glitter Eyeliner

Next, we have a gold and green look. For this, the eyes are dramatic and stylish. On the upper eyelid there is a light eyeshadow blend with black and glitter eyeliner. You will see on the lower lid that there is a dark green eyeshadow with a jewel tone eyeliner. This is such a glam, festive idea. For a bolder look, you can choose a more vibrant green.

28. Matte Red Smokey Eye

Red is a must-have color for the holiday season. However, if the bold and bright red is not for you, then you can try makeup like this. For this look, the eyes start in a dark red and then gradually blend to black. The eyes are finished off with statement eyeliner. It is a trendy way to wear red this Christmas.

29. Glam, Sparkly Eyes

This makeup is perfect for the ladies who want to look stylish and glam for parties and other special events. You could wear makeup like this for New Year’s Eve, too.

30. Festive Gold Eyes

If you want makeup that is festive without being too over the top, then this idea could be perfect. Here we have eye makeup that features gorgeous eyeshadow and eyeliner that you can wear all year round. Then to finish off the look there is a subtle sweep of glitter. By adding a small amount of glitter, you look fun and Christmassy but also stylish too.

Let’s face it, at Christmas there are so many things to do so your manicure is often bumped right to the last of the list, if it even gets done at all. We’ve decided to bring you the easy winter and Christmas nail ideas that you can totally recreate at home. And that leaves you with plenty more time to cook turkey, shop for gifts, and find that perfect Christmas day outfit!

1. Simple Red and Gold Glitter Design

On the Autumn Winter catwalks for 2019, short plum nails were a big hit. Not only were they short, they were rounded too, which many of us would find easier to work with on a daily basis. If that sounds a little too dull and not very Christmas-like for your liking, add a touch of glitter, just like you can see here. It’s just a little addition, but one that makes the world of difference. And you’ll see be in trend!

2. Snowflake Design

When it comes to easy winter and Christmas nail ideas, you can’t get much more wintery than these cute blue snowflake designs! You could opt for an ombre-effect across your nails, which we think is a great idea. The thumb could be dark blue, for example, moving to the pinkie finger, each nail getting lighter in shade, until you get to white. Add your snowflakes and you’re basically good to go. Now all you need to do is hope for a white Christmas!

3. Green and Gold Christmas Tree Design

How about a Christmas tree? The tradition of having a Christmas tree, decorating it, and placing presents underneath it has been around for thousands of years, although the customs have changed a little over time. We can’t think of a better way to pay homage to the humble Christmas tree than with these brilliant green and gold Christmas tree design nails. What do you think?

4. Cute Reindeer Design

Rudolph the red nose reindeer … Admit it, you sang it too right? We love the way that the red rhinestone has been used in the place of Rudolph’s nose, which we think is a genius idea! You can’t get much more Christmassy than the story of Santa and his reindeer helpers, and that’s why we fell a little bit in love with these easy Christmas designs.

Products used: Revlon in Bare Bones, Catrice in Get Boho in SoHo , DA in Famous, and Lucia Couture in Honeybee.

5. Christmas Baubles

What about Christmas baubles if the Christmas tree or Rudolph didn’t light up your life? These are easy to do too – it’s just a circle to start with, some glitter to make it sparkle, and then some greenery to make it look as if they’re hanging from a Christmas tree. It shouldn’t take you long, and it’s definitely a look that no one else will have. So why not?

6. Green, Gold and Red

Green, gold, and red have been associated with Christmas for many years. The red is said to represent the blood of Jesus Christ, and the gold colour is show luxury and wealth. Green is the colour of the earth and everything living and natural. All that aside, of course, the three colours look really good together. And they look Christmas-like so they’re good enough for us!

7. Sparkly White and Gold Design

These remind us of wrapping paper that we bought last year, and honestly, we love these a little bit! Quite a lot in fact. If you don’t have a very good steady hand, cheat your way to these nails with decals and embellishments which you can pick up for almost no price at all these days, especially online.

8. Easy Christmas Nails

If you’ve ever been looking for an excuse to buy some nail gems or decorations, now is definitely the time. These winter and Christmas nail ideas just call for it! With the help of a few flecks of glitter, you too could have amazing christmas nails like these easy Christmas nails! It’s all about shaping glitter together, in this case red and green glitter, to make it look Christmassy. To start with, the tree, and if you’re ready to get creative – that mistletoe look.

Products used: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Sheer Force, and Salon Perfect in Glam Glitter.

9. Elegant Red and Gold Nails

With the help of some masking tape, you could easily recreate these simple winter themed nails at home, and the red and gold colour in them just makes them feel festive and warm. Just make sure you leave the polish to dry before taking away that tape, otherwise you’ll run the risk of smudging. Who has time to do these beauties twice before Christmas? We’ve got gifts to buy!

Products used: Il était un Vernis in Live Love Laugh and Pinot Noir.

10. Matte Gingerbread Nails

Gingerbread men have become a symbol of Christmas, as has the candy cane. Both of those things have been brought together with the traditional colours of Christmas in these easy winter and Christmas nail ideas. If you don’t think you have the patient to recreate those candy cane stripes, don’t worry. You can cheat it (like we did) with nail wraps. It’s quicker, easier, and at least then most of the lines are straight!

Products used: China Glaze in White on White, Salsa, Matte Magic and Holly-Day.

11. Pink Glitter Christmas Nails

You might not have thought about using pink glitter in your easy winter and Christmas nail ideas, but we think it goes really well with this light silver / white hue. It’s still a Christmassy look, especially with that pretty pink Christmas tree, but it’s not too Christmassy. Perfect for those who don’t really dig the red, green, and gold theme.

12.  Cute Winter Nails

We love the idea of this – it’s like a winter sweater on your nails. And because it’s only on the one featured nail, you can easily nail it! (See what we did there?) Again, if the hand-painting of this brings you out in a cold sweat, cheat it with nail wraps, or consider using nail stamps instead. You can get a wide range of designs, meaning there’s no limit to the crazy creations you can come up with.

13. Easy Last-Minute Christmas Nails

If it’s something last minute you want, this is a great look. One red nail, one green nail, one gold nail. That’s all you need to make your hands look festive, and you could put them in any order, in any way that you like. If you already have red nails, for example, remove the polish from one nail and paint it green instead. Then do the same with another, and repaint it gold. By doing that, you’re getting maximum use out of your old mani, and you’re still getting a fresh new look at the same time.

14. Red and Gold Bow Design

Gold nail foils are the trick when you want to wrap your nails up in a bow, and you can buy a bow embellishment from many places online. You could even switch it up to silver if gold isn’t really your thing. It’s cute and simple, and everyone will want to copy them. It’s great to be a little Christmas trendsetter right?

16. Snowman Design

Products used: Sally Hansen in Breezy Blue, Milani in White on the Spot, F.U.N Lacquer in Cinderella, and Hema Glitter Topcoat #8.

17. Elegant Snowflake Nails

When you’re painting your nails and it’s just one base shade, you should only need three strokes of your brush to completely cover them. One swoop down the middle, and one down each of the sides. Let it dry, and then repeat, and that’s how you get a decent base. You’ll want to make sure that the coats aren’t too thick too – that’ll cause a gloopy mani, and it’ll take an age for it to dry as well.

18. Mistletoe Nails

Who do you fancy kissing under the mistletoe this year? We’re just looking for an excuse if we’re being honest, and with these mistletoe nails, we’ve got it! Products used: OPI in Alpine Snow, China Glaze in The Heat is on, Seche Nails in Seche Vite, and Red holo glitter from Michaels.

19. Christmas Nails with Rhinestones

If you’re going to have rhinestones and other embellishments on your nails, make sure you carry a spare tube of glue in your bag at all times. It’s going to be just your luck that you’ll lose a stone right at that crucial moment. At least if you have nail glue in your pocket or bag, you can pick it up and put it right back on again. In fact, nail glue is quite a handy thing to have in your bag. Just saying.

22. Sparkly Christmas Baubles

What a great idea – using larger pieces of glitter to create a Christmas bauble nail design that is bound to catch the light wonderfully. A quick flick with a black nail pen will help you retreat the bow and string at the top, and once again, rhinestones have been added to really bring the entire look to life. 24. Sparkly Winter Design

What a fabulous idea! It’s a holographic almost ombre look at the back, and that’s the part you’ll want to do first. On these nails, those silver designs are decals applied over the top. The other way that you could recreate these is by painting your nails silver, then placing the decals on top (with the aim to remove them once the nails are dry), and then painting over the top with this ombre blue to purple holographic look. When you take the decals away, you should be left with the silver shimmer outline just like you can see here.

Products used: F.U.N Lacquer in Frost

That’s what we keep telling ourselves anyway!

You can recreate this or just use candy canes or peppermints, you don’t have to use both. There are tutorials to show you how to paint these or you can buy nail stickers to make it easier for you.

67. Elegant Snowflake Nail Idea

The next idea is a little similar to another mani that we have shared. It was a matte green design with a rhinestone accent nail. This time we have matte red nails with a sparkly accent nail. As you can see, the red looks amazing! This just shows how you can take inspiration from an idea and create a different look.

68. Wintry Nails with Pink Glitter and Chrome

We love this next idea, it is one of our favorites! Each nail has a different design including snowflake nail art, glitter and chrome. The colors used are just stunning and the glitter and chrome just really glam up the nails for the special season. A mani like this is perfect for Christmas and NYE parties.
